Resin-based surfaces

Resin-based siding is still relatively new to the DIY and construction market. Significant advancements have been made in epoxy resins and polymers in recent decades and now, the price is right too. However, despite this, many people are still unaware that resin-based coating is an option for them.

The surface is made of decorative gravel that is 'glued' with a transparent resin to an existing solid surface. The solid surface must be properly prepared and clean. The foundation must also be what is known as monolithic, which means it should have few, if any, joints. Then there are two methods of placing the resin and aggregate: resin bonded and resin bonded. Both methods take less than an hour to set up, so they must be installed by competent workers or DIY enthusiasts.

The resin bonding method involves the aggregate and resin being thoroughly mixed and then spread over the base by hand with trowels and screed bars. This way the correct thickness of the mixture can be placed.

The resin bonding method involves placing the resin on the base and then spreading the aggregate over the tacky resin.

The resin-based coating has applications in both the domestic and commercial markets. Commercially it is ideal for bicycle and bus lanes and for lighting municipal areas. Businesses can place their logo on the surface and complete the identity of their office or factory space.

For residential use, the surface can be used in driveways, pathways, and outdoor play areas. It can even be used indoors in greenhouses or kitchens.

There are many benefits for residential and commercial customers to using a resin bound maintenance -based coating. It is quick drying so it can be used very soon after laying, there are no loose chips, the finished surface is UV stable and resistant to oil spills, unique designs are possible, there are hundreds of colors for choose, it is quick to lay and the surface has a long service life.
